The lights rise and the shot zooms in on Tim.] Hello again, fans! Welcome back to the IIWF Studio after a wild IIWF World Tour that took us from Mexico City to Tokyo, and then to Armstrong Air Force Base in Alaska where fans around the world were treated to quite a show at Snow Brawl. I'm your host Tim Dross, and as we bid a fond farewell to 1996 we'll take a special look at what happened at Snow Brawl, bring you up to date on the news and notes in the federation, and visit with an old "friend" in our "Up Close and Personal" segment. It's all part of the excitement that has made the IIWF the number one e-wrestling federation in the world according to RSPWF, and we're determined to make 1997 an even bigger year! First, I'd like to report on a scary scene following Snow Brawl. I went to get some comments from the Venusian Death Cell on his performance at Snow Brawl, only to encounter the following: [Cut to the Venusian Death Cell in the Officer's Club at Armstrong Air Force Base. He is covered in green fluid which is apparently his blood. He is still in his wrestling attire. Tim Dross enters.] TD: Hi Cell! I guess you're not feeling up to talking much right now, huh? VDC: Actually, Tim, I'm feeling real good. I just had a couple of beers with Scotch chasers and for some reason my head's spinning and all the pain's gone. I thought I was gonna be out for a while, but now, well, I feel like a different "man." TD: Oh good. VDC: Sorry? [Dross coughs] TD: Nothing, Cell. [Dross looks at the barman and puts his thumb up. The barman winks back.] VDC: What are you two guys up to...? TD: Nothing, Cell. Honestly. Phil, bring us a couple of beers over please, not that we need them if you know what I mean... heh heh. PHIL: Coming right up. [Phil breaks open two bottles of "Bud Ice" and pours the contents into two glasses. He puts them on a tray and brings them over.] PHIL: Here you go folks. Enjoy. [The Cell pours the beer into his mouth from a height and then starts coughing and choking. He turns bright red in the face and holds his head in his hands. He murmurs some foreign words and rolls around on the floor.] TD: Call an ambulance. Quick! [Quick fade and cut back to Tim Dross in the studio.] That was a scary scene, I can assure you. Fortunately, the medics at the Air Force Base were able to stabilize Cell's condition and he was airlifted to a hospital in Anchorage, where I understand he spent a couple of days and was released. Apparently it was just something he needed to... er, get out of his system. But I understand the Cell will be just fine and will return to action in a week or so. ************************************************************************** ---------------- TIM DROSS: REFLECTIONS ON SNOW BRAWL -------------------- ************************************************************************** What a night it was at Armstrong Air Force Base in Alaska! Four titles on the line and all four champions were defeated -- although Dan Kauffman and the High Plains Drifters retained their belts because of disqualifications. Still, those belts are in jeopardy this week because Casey James earned a shot at Kauffman's World Championship and the Dark Disciples will have a shot at the Drifters' World Tag Team Championship. Both of those matches will be coming up this Saturday. Also coming up Saturday night will be Marty Warnett's shot at Steve Kowalski's Intercontinental Championship. What a match that will be! Let's run down the results from Snow Brawl: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ IIWF CONTRACT MATCH: LUKE STEELE def. J.P. STEELE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Although J.P. Steele proved himself a worthy competitor, he was unable to overcome the experience of "The Real Deal" Luke Steele. Both men proved to be excellent sportsmen and I'm certain Luke Steele will be a worthy adversary for anyone in the IIWF. Time will tell. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VALET MATCH: MISTRESS SASHA def. NURSE HEIDI ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What a shock this turned out to be. Nurse Heidi dominated the majority of the match, as expected, but the intervention of none other than The Sandman proved to be the turning point. The Sandman, seemingly smitten by Nurse Heidi, had her name written across his chest, but then dusted her and allowed Sasha to roll Heidi up for the pin. In what could be a major fallout, The Sandman will team with Otto Verhoeven tomorrow night against The Harlequins -- a match that was signed before Snow Brawl. That's one house show that could host a brawl of its own. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TAG TEAM BATTLE ROYAL: THE DARK DISCIPLES def. THE PLAYERS' CLUB PAIN, INC. DOMINATION THE ALPHABET BOYS THE HANGMEN THE ZODIAC CONNECTION THE ARABIAN KNIGHTS G.W.R ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This battle royal turned out to be exactly the brawl we expected, but the final two competitors surprised quite a few people. It came down to Kane of The Dark Disciples facing "Desirable" Danny Dynamite of The Players' Club. Kane eventually got the pin to give his team a title shot this Saturday against the High Plains Drifters. The Syndicate may have been shut out of the title picture at Snow Brawl, but this Saturday could be a big night for Brian Lau's troops if the Disciples can pull off a victory and Casey James upsets Dan Kauffman. The Armed Forces and G.W.R. will have a chance to settle _their_ differences on Saturday night, and you can bet those four men -- as well as Aaron the Caddy and General Kane -- can't wait to get their hands on each other. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ IIWF WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: DEATHBRINGER def. DAN KAUFFMAN ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Who would have come out on top? It's a question to which we may never know the answer. It appeared that interference would mar this title match early on when Casey James attempted to get at Dan Kauffman, but Serge Annis surprisingly came to Kauffman's aid and attacked James. Annis muttered something about Kauffman "paying that debt" later -- but exactly when he'll recall it remains to be seen. However, it was Chris Quigley who forced the disqualification at Snow Brawl -- and neither Kauffman nor Deathbringer seemed pleased about it. Quigley continues to insist that he and Kauffman have unfinished business, stemming from the evening Kauffman won the belt from Otto Verhoeven. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ IIWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: STEVE KOWALSKI def. BILLY SHAKESPEARE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The marquee changed names when "Painbringer" Billy Sexton did not arrive at Armstrong Air Force Base for the title match. The IIWF Special Concerns Committee substituted Kowalski, who defeated Sexton on December 7, and "The Fury" made the most of his opportunity. Despite nearly two weeks off, Billy Shakespeare still did not appear to be sufficiently recovered from his injuries and paid the price. Still, he left the arena with his head held high and making no excuses. As for Kowalski, he'll have precious little time to celebrate as Marty Warnett earned a title shot based on his second-place finish in the Lethal Lottery battle royal. That match is coming up this Saturday. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ IIWF CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: TAKEZO MUSASHI def. TIGER CLAW & HAKIRO MATSUOKO ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Controversy reigned as The White Phoenix extracted his revenge on IIWF Cruiserweight Champion Hakiro Matsuoko by attacking him _during_ this match. Matsuoko could not continue, but the officials ruled that the match _would_ go on. The Phoenix even had words and a shove for his friend Takezo Musashi. Perhaps no wrestler has been as consistent at Musashi during the last two months, as Tiger Claw learned. The Starsault Press is a devastating finishing move, and it could help Musashi hold the belt for a long time. You can bet that challenges will not be long in coming. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ IIWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: THE ARMED FORCES def. HIGH PLAINS DRIFTERS & RISING SUN REVOLUTION ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Old demons die hard, as the Drifters and Rising Sun Revolution learned at Snow Brawl. For Hiroshi and Ryudo, their demons came in the form of admirers Abie and Zed -- The Alphabet Boys. Those two, however well- meaning, have cost Rising Sun Revolution in their last two matches and now appear jealous of the friendship between RSR and Domination. How do you explain something like that to Abie and Zed, though? Now I take nothing away from The Armed Forces. They wrestled extremely well and were the clear fan favorites. But I've noticed that The High Plains Drifters are a different team with the IIWF Tag Team Championship belts. They tend to become more of a defensive team -- even to the point of not wanting to get into the ring when the match began. Pale and Easy Rider earned their reputation for taking the fight to their opponents, but pulling Pain Inc. into the ring and earning the disqualification seemed to be an easy out for them. I never thought I would see Josey Wales' men go soft. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LETHAL LOTTERY FIRST ROUND: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MAD DOG WATKINS def. HARLEQUIN CHAOS & THE SUBWAY PSYCHO & MR. DAMAGE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just as effectively as Mad Dog and the Psycho worked together, Harlequin Chaos and Mr. Damage were the exact opposite. Watkins proved early in the evening that he was 100 percent behind his teammate, keeping Stud Stetson and Lace from entering the arena during the Valet Match. His strategy paid off when the team of Chaos and Mr. Damage dissolved. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LORD BYRON def. VENUSIAN DEATH CELL & HARLEQUIN TRAGEDY & ONSLAUGHT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There was certainly no love lost between Byron and Harlequin Tragedy, but they worked well enough to outlast the troubled team of the VDC and Onslaught. We questioned Onslaught's ability to work with a partner other than Tony Starks, and those doubts proved well-founded. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DIRT DOG UNIQUE ALLAH def. CHRIS QUIGLEY & CHESHIRE & THE HANGMAN ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Although Dirt Dog and Cheshire were the most unlikely of teammates, they pulled off what must be considered an upset when Quigley and the Hangman were disqualified. The Hangmen were shuffling in and out of the ring during the match and were finally caught by the official. Quigley, who had a bye into the battle royal anyway, didn't appear overly concerned. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ STEVE KOWALSKI def. THE SANDMAN & OTTO VERHOEVEN & CREED ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sandman and Creed also had their differences coming into the Lethal Lottery, but even a well-tuned team may have had trouble overcoming the terrible twosome of Kowalski and Verhoeven. Had Kowalski known that a shot at the Intercontinental title laid in his future at Snow Brawl, he may have let Verhoeven do more of the work. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AMERICAN PATRIOT def. STUD STETSON & MARTY WARNETT & RONNIE PARIS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We expected this to be a brawl between Warnett and Stetson... and it was. However, those two never made it into the ring, leaving The American Patriot and Ronnie Paris to battle it out. The Patriot showed why he has held belts in other federations, using his experience to outlast young Ronnie Paris in what turned out to be a terrific scientific bout. Both of those sportsmen seem to have bright futures in the IIWF. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CASEY JAMES def. THE WHITE PHOENIX & BRODY THUNDER & SERGE ANNIS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This appeared to be the most evenly-matched quartet of the evening, but the off-balanced Serge Annis and his fascination with fire got his team disqualified. Annis may claim that he is fully aware of his actions, but he certainly seems like a certifiable lunatic to this observer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LETHAL LOTTERY BATTLE ROYAL: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CASEY JAMES def. MARTY WARNETT LORD BYRON HARLEQUIN TRAGEDY THE SUBWAY PSYCHO MAD DOG WATKINS BRODY THUNDER OTTO VERHOEVEN STEVE KOWALSKI AMERICAN PATRIOT CHESHIRE DIRT DOG UNIQUE ALLAH CHRIS QUIGLEY ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ While friends and foes worked together in the preliminary bouts, there were no allies to be found in the battle royal. Enemies quickly squared off until only Casey James and Marty Warnett remained in the ring. Warnett shocked everyone by even making it to the battle royal after the attack he suffered at the hands of Stud Stetson, but the biggest surprise was his ability to make it to the finals. But take nothing away from "Blackheart," who boasted all week that he would win the battle royal and earn his title shot against Dan Kauffman. In the past month, Casey James has stalked Kauffman, broken into his hotel room, and attacked his mentor Brandon Bennett. Now it's time for Casey to put up or shut up in the ring against Dan Kauffman. Saturday night he gets the opportunity he's been wanting. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SNOW BRAWL TIDBITS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Fans, I'd like to make just a couple of additional observations about Snow Brawl. First, a comment about the apparent return of "Badboy" Randy Acorn, the master of disguise who attacked The White Phoenix. For weeks, Acorn had been in a dispute with the IIWF front office over contractual matters and had even missed a number of house shows. It was my understanding that he had been released from his contract. However, my sources tell me that contract negotiations were still taking place up until Snow Brawl. Obviously, Acorn would not be allowed to participate while those negotiations were taking place, but he and the IIWF suits came to terms the morning of Snow Brawl. Even though he was not on the Snow Brawl card, Randy Acorn found a way to make his presence felt. It appears that the "Badboy" is here to stay. I would also like to comment on the presentation surrounding one "Superstar" Stud Stetson and this "World Superstar Championship" belt he was awarded at Snow Brawl. Supposedly, the belt was commissioned by an organization known as the International Wrestling Commission, which deemed Stetson the title holder. Now I've done quite a bit of research since Snow Brawl and have failed to locate any reference to the International Wrestling Commission. Furthermore, my discussions with IIWF President Dan Spreadbury indicate that Stetson is unwilling to permit the IIWF Booking Committee to schedule any defenses of that belt. It would seem likely that the IIWF will NOT recognize and sanction that "World Superstar Championship" belt. It looks like Stetson will either have to make some concessions regarding that championship or return the belt to the Elvis impersonator from whom it was stolen. ************************************************************************** -------------- UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL: OUTLAW J.W. HARDIN ---------------- ************************************************************************** As we wrap up 1996 and glance back at some of the highlights of the first year in the IIWF's history, it would be difficult to overlook a man who was the first IIWF World Heavyweight Champion. I'm speaking, of course, about the Outlaw J.W. Hardin, whose antics left the IIWF in a spin prior to his leaving for Europe following Ring Wars II. We've managed to track down J.W. Hardin in England, where he was one of 60 men competing in the RingLord Tournament at Wembley Stadium. While some of the other IIWF superstars are enjoying their holiday break, I thought we could check in with the Outlaw and see how his European career is progressing. [Cut to a split screen, with Dross on the left and an empty shot on the right. The camera spins around and the looming figure of J.W. Hardin in his black cowboy hat and black duster fills the right half of the screen.] TD: Ah, there you are, J.W. Hardin. I was wondering if you were really with us this time. JWH: Blame this little [BLEEP] runnin' the camera, Dross! Damn, I've seen better camera work from Casey James. TD: Ah, I see you've been keeping up with events in the IIWF. JWH: It ain't easy in France 'cause they put all that sissy translation in, which is just another reason to hate them little people. Becky sounds pretty hot in French, but you and Roberts sound like a couple of EuroDisney rejects. TD: Well please bring us up to date on your career since you left for Europe. JWH: Cadaver was right about the money over here -- there's a lot to be made. But the competition just doesn't stack up to the IIWF. I'll go out and kick some ass for 15 minutes every other night, but the challenge just ain't there. Still, these crowds love to cheer for the big cowboy -- just like the morons in the IIWF Coliseum. Every time I walked the aisle in Japan, them little guys would scream "John Wayne! John Wayne!" So I'd slap 'em around and they'd love it even more. TD: Sounds like you've encountered some culture shock. JWH: Hell, some of these foreigners wouldn't recognize culture if it jumped up and bit 'em on the butt. People in Italy go lookin' at statues without arms. The art museums here got no "sunsets on black velvet." And all these other wrestlers want to go out for wine after the cards, but I go back to the hotel and knock down some of that Kessler's Whiskey that Pale and Easy Rider sent me. Hey, Dross, tell them boys I said hi. TD: Uh, sure. Since you've had a chance to keep up with the happenings in the IIWF, what's your impression of the fed now? JWH: Kauffman with _my_ belt? I never thought I'd see the day. I had a chance to knock down a few beers with The Hangmen in Italy and those boys seem ready to make some noise back in the IIWF. I understand "Gimp" Shakespeare has the IIWF suits in his back pocket -- no surprise there. As far as the newcomers, I really like the look of this Brody Thunder. Hell, I'd like to team up with him someday and clean house in the IIWF. TD: Team up? Does that mean you're looking to return to the IIWF? JWH: Don't wet your pants, Drossy. I still got eight months on my contract over here... if there's enough beef left in Europe. You know that "mad cow disease" they had here in England? It wasn't nothing but a bunch of cows I slapped the "Cattle Buster" on. When they finally woke up, they was walkin' sideways and some cameraman caught it on tape. Hell, all they had to do was look at the tape of Kauffman after I busted his skull. More like "Mad Outlaw's Disease" if you ask me. Heh. TD: Yes, well.... I understand you're part of a group that will be introducing professional wrestling to the People's Republic of China next month. What a thrill that must be! JWH: Uh-huh. TD: Okayyyy. Well I see that we're about to lose our satellite feed... JWH: I gotta go anyway, Dross. Fergie said something about playing "horsie" later on tonight. TD: Well that seems like a good place to end the interview. Good luck as you continue your career, Outlaw J.W. Hardin. JWH: Yeah, thanks. [suddenly breaks into a grin] Hey, Marty Warnett, your sister says hello! [Hardin continues to grin as the satellite link falters and the right side of the screen becomes snowy. Cut back to a full shot of Tim Dross.] TD: Even from across the Atlantic Ocean, he causes trouble. Fans, we'll keep you up to date on what the Outlaw is doing and the prospects of his return to the IIWF once his foreign contract expires. ************************************************************************** ---------------------- WEDNESDAY NIGHT PREVIEW ------------------------- ************************************************************************** We have some great matches coming your way tomorrow night as the IIWF's wrestlers return to action in our very own IIWF Coliseum.
