You've reached the Dross Report update for June 15, 1997, and what a weekend it's been. The IIWF has been beset with technical difficulties throughout the "Coronation Clash Crusade Tour", but circumstances over the past few days have had the front office back in Portland raising their eyebrows and questioning the competence of the technical staff out on the road with the athletes -- all the more worrying given the incredible schedule coming up over the next few weeks in the run-up to the Coronation Clash PPV. Let's take a look at what we can expect. It all kicks off next Saturday Night, June 21, with a show, live from Landover, Maryland, which could well be subtitled, "Syndicate Saturday Night". We'll see Casey James battle Brody Thunder in a "once and for all" lumberjack, no disqualification match for the IIWF World Heavyweight Championship in the main event. That match could get absolutely wild, folks -- just about every wrestler in the IIWF is expected to be at ringside for that one. In other action next Saturday, we'll see Tiger Claw finally square off, one on one, with Derek Mota -- the bad blood between these two has been tremendous, and this promises to be an exceptional match. On top of that, Pain Inc. and the Dark Disciples, the two warring tag teams of the Syndicate, will battle it out for membership in the stable. Brian Lau has had enough of their infighting and bickering, and last night issued the ultimatum: one stays, one goes. With the troubled Danny Dynamite also expected to be in action next Saturday Night, the Syndicate will truly dominate the action coming your way from Landover, MD. Then, of course, the following week, June 28, scheduled to come live from Cleveland, Ohio, we will see the first eight matches in the opening round of the tournament which will take us all the way to the Fleet Centre in Boston on July 12 for Coronation Clash itself. The brackets for this tournament will be announced in a special edition of "Inside the IIWF" on June 24, and the first round matches will then take place over the following two Saturday Night shows. June 5 will see the IIWF coming live from the Manhattan Centre in New York, with the second batch of eight first round matches -- meaning that come July 12, sixteen men will have been eliminated, and only sixteen will remain to battle it out on the Clash PPV itself. And on July 12, one man will battle all the way through three matches in a single night in order to earn the right to face the IIWF World Heavyweight Champion on IIWF Saturday Night on July 26, back in the IIWF Coliseum in Portland, Oregon. It's sure to be an incredible three weeks of action, folks, so don't miss a single IIWF broadcast for more details on Coronation Clash. But there was certainly plenty of action in the Fogelman Auditorium here in New Orleans last night. With three titles on the line, we saw some tremendous matches go down -- a number of which ending in interference by Genesis. Perhaps due to the attitude of Genesis, which has always been "you're either with us or against us", the IIWF has become increasingly factionalised over the past weeks, with all manner of new alliances springing up to counter their threat. However, it would appear that we may see the end of one alliance before it has even begun. Fans were certainly excited when Luke Steele, Ronnie Paris and Scott Rogers banded together a couple of weeks ago, but last night, when Steele was jumped by Genesis after his hard-fought match against Otto Verhoeven, it was Paris alone who had to make the save, despite the fact that Rogers was seated at ringside for the duration of the encounter. Rogers appeared far more interested in the young female fan who had draped herself on him as he arrived in the stands than in the welfare of his friend and partner in the ring -- and in the locker rooms after the show went off the air, security had to defuse a tense confrontation between Paris and Rogers, who continues to protest his innocence. But there's something not quite right about Scott Rogers, folks. I've spoken with him on a number of occasions, both for interviews and at other times, and he seems to exhibit a different attitude each and every time I see him. Sometimes he is gushingly accommodating, at others he is icily terse, and at others still, he can be truly aggressive. Whether this changablility is something that Rogers deliberately cultivates is unclear, but he certainly manages to be unpredictable. Well, folks, the IIWF Express is just about to leave Tulane University, and I have to be on it -- next stop, Maryland. Be sure to tune in to all the IIWF's programming over the coming week, and I'll be back at you next Sunday night with another look behind the scenes of the IIWF in the Dross Report. Until then, this is Tim Dross, saying: so long, everybody, and thanks for calling! ----------------------- OPTION #2: Can We Talk? ----------------------- Hi there, everybody. I'm Larry Morton, and as usual, I've been trailing the IIWF superstars over the past week to get their thoughts on a topical question. This week's poser: WHICH CITY WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT WITH THE IIWF? MARTY WARNETT: "Gotta me Cardiff ... a warm Welsh welcome home can't be beaten ... unlike Chris Quigley." "SHOWSTOPPER" SIMON LEBEC: "Hollywood, of course!  Then, I could stay at my own house.  I mean, there's only so much soap you can steal from "Howard Johnson's"!" VIOLENCE UNLIMITED: Mutilator: Violence Unlimited's favorite city is a simple choice... Baltimore. Jaguar: Why?  The IIWF needs to show the damn MLWO what real wrestling is all about. Mutilator: And they happen to be the fed with the man who brought me into wrestling. That shows how much I respect the old guys. SCOTT ROGERS: "Las Vegas. [pause] Elaborate? [pause] No." TONY STARKS: "New York... Word." "QUICKSTRIKE" CHRIS QUIGLEY: "I don't really know.  I guess visiting Ottawa would be nice.  IIWF doesn't visit Canada enough, but then again, I've seen a lot of Canada, I personally wouldn't mind going to the place I learned to wrestle for a big IIWF show, Pheonix, Arizona.  I'm really big there. [laughs]" PAIN INC.: Mr. Mic: No problem, New York City. Morningstar: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. MR. DAMAGE: "I would love to wrestle in my home town Melbourne, hell I might even get cheers for once! It is a dream of mine to wrestle for a title in my home town, and I can assure you that dream will be someone else's nightmare." DUNCAN MACBETH: "There's nae question tha' Edinburgh, Scotland would be a brilliant place fer th' IIWF t' have a night o' wrestlin'!  If there's any people in th' whole world who appreciate non-stop, back-breakin', head-stompin' mayhem more than th' Scots, I've yet t' encounter 'em!  Jus' imagine Arthur's Seat, mighty Edinburgh Castle 'erself, filled t' th' brim wi' rabid wrestlin' fans, proud Scotsmen all, cheerin' me on as I kick tha' poncy Laird Byron's arse from pillar t' post!  Ahhh...that'd be magic, wha'!" THE AGE OF RAGE: Together: New York, NEW YORK! CASEY "BLACKHEART" JAMES: "Well, Claw keeps telling me about Bangkok, so I wouldn't mind going there... Apparently, there's always a good fight somewhere, and you just have to know where to find them... And the hookers! What?" TIGER CLAW: "I want to go home... The IIWF would benefit by going to my homeland, because the ticket sales would be at an all time high because the fans would all come to see me. They know a good fighter when they see one." STEVE "THE FURY" KOWALSKI: "Damn good question. Which city has the best jail? 'Cause after the court case, I'm gonna kill me somebody!"
