Cut to an interior shot... and the camera pans to the memorabilia of the legendary scenes which have graced the venerable building: photographs of New York Knick center Willis Reed, heroically stepping onto the court despite a serious knee injuy in the 1971 NBA finals; a mural of the 1994 New York Rangers, bringers of the Stanley Cup back to New York for the first time in some 50+ years; Snapshots of many of the finest professional prizefighters of all time... Willie Pep,  Jack Johnson, Henry Armstrong, Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Jake LaMotta, Rocky Marciano... Mike Tyson... And as the shot reaches the arena itself... and the camera pans to a glistening wrestling ring in the center of the darkened building... the videotaped snatches of professional wrestling legends past, all who competed with honor in Madison Square Garden are seen. And then a live shot of the ring... where tuxedo-clad IIWF commentators Steve Roberts and Tim Dross proudly sit.] TD: Hello again everyone and welcome to "Inside the IIWF", your weekly look at all the news, views, reviews and previews -- highlights and sidelights -- cheers and jeers.  A look behind at the week that was and up ahead at the week that will be here in the finest professional wrestling Federation in the world today....the _mighty_ IIWF! I am Tim Dross, and seated next to me is my tag team colleague Steve "Soundbite" Roberts, and we are coming to you live from the world's most famous arena -- Madison Square Garden in New York City! SR: You know, Dross, this building has been witness to some of the truly memorable moments in all of wrestling history.  I once clocked two midgets and a valet right over there. TD: I wasn't aware that you were ever on a card here in MSG, Steve Roberts.  SR: Who said I was on the card? TD: Well, speaking of memorable, the Gund Arena in Cleveland was witness to the second bombshell conclusion to IIWF Saturday Night in as many weeks when Creed and Lord Byron agreed to meet on July 12 at Coronation Clash in a Loser Leaves Town match.  Truly a remarkable turn of events. SR: The only thing remarkable about it is that moron Creed actually agreed to leave the IIWF. I was sure that we would have to see his ass kicked a dozen more times before he decided to hang 'em up... although, we still have a week and a half before the Clash, so there's still time. TD: This rivalry has been burning most of 1997, with Creed having handed Lord Byron his only "clean" IIWF defeat back in January -- and since that point Lord Byron has sworn revenge... and he got it in the form of a brutal attack of the European Alliance upon Creed's knee, followed by a defeat of the red-gloved rookie at Birthday Bash. Each played more than a minor hand in the other's being eliminated from the Coronation Clash Tournament -- and in a startling, dramatic end of the card showdown, they agreed to meet in the first half of a Double Main Event at Coronation Clash, with the winner becoming Intercontinental Champion -- and the loser leaving the IIWF. These two men have surrounded themselves with some of the greatest talent in this sport in the European Alliance and the... SR: Black Pack.  Black Pack.  It's a bunch of black guys all hanging out together in a pack.  Black Pack.  Damn, why do I have to explain everything around here? TD: Well, Steve Roberts, given that we don't refer to a similar group of... caucasion wrestlers as the "White Pack"... it could be construed as racially insensitive. SR: Well, duh.  Of course it's insensitive. That's my gig, moron. Besides, White Pack doesn't rhyme.  Wait... okay, Dross, how 'bout this... you know that group with Paris, Steele and Rogers? TD: Everyone in the IIWF knows about that group, particularly as two of its members have already advanced to the field of just 16 men who will compete for the Heavyweight Championship of the World at Coronation Clash. SR: Yeah, whatever.  I say we call them "White Flight".   They're all white guys -- and they sure like to run away from trouble.  Or from really loud children.  And I think I saw Paris crying at a Kentucky Fried Chicken the other night becasue he was scared of the extra crispy. TD: Will you stop? SR: I stopped once.  Best weekend of my life. TD: Let's get to the highlights. Lord Byron [Cut back to Dross and Roberts at their desk.] TD: As noteworthy as the huge bombshell announcement of Creed/Byron 3 is, it was only part of the story from IIWF Saturday Night which saw the beginning of the huge Coronation Clash Tournament which will crown a new IIWF Heavyweight Champion!  Let's take a bracket by bracket look at where we stand with only one week remaining until the biggest pay-per-view of the summer! SR: Black Pack. TD: ...Not only was Ike Sampson able to defeat Creed, a man who incidentally got the most support from our IIWF fans in the Coronation Clash Crusade Contest to become the next World Champion -- so you folks, tear up your brackets... but Mad Dog Watkins won one of the biggest matches in his IIWF career with a dramatic victory over Simon Lebec. SR: Yeah, Lebon got "The Reflex" kicked right out of him by the Old Dog... but you know there's only one story in Group A -- only one story in the entire tournament... what the hell's going on with the Syndicate? TD: Are you admitting finally that you don't know the status of either Casey James or Tiger Claw, neither of whom has spoken publicly since Syndicate Saturday Night? SR: I admit nothing.  Of course I know what's going on and whatever it is that's going on you can be sure that it's going on. 'Cause I know Brian Lau and he's got it going on! TD: Okay.  But the fact remains that Casey James and Tiger Claw are scheduled to meet this Saturday Night in a match that has been looked forward to by insiders here in the IIWF for quite a long time. SR: I got it going on, Dross.  I'm a walking, talking party in a box. You Go, Steve!  It's Your Party!  It's Your Birthday! TD: The other matchup will pit the Enigma against Kevin Christiansen, a young man who was impressive in his debut last Wednesday. SR: Yeah, I don't know much about this "Cavalier" -- except that since we were in Cleveland last week I haven't decided if I'm gonna call him World Free or Larry Nance. TD: Someone we do know... or at least we thought we knew... is Takezo Musashi. He has certainly been wildly off kilter -- and more than a little obsessed with Joe Petrow during the past several weeks.  It's hard to tell what sort of man we will see in the Enigma Saturday Night. SR: Don't tell me I don't know... I know, believe me, I know.  Nobody knows the nose that I know...se.  I need a vacation, Dross. [ BUTCHER ]-. 5/7 |--[ ]-. [ QUIGLEY ]-' | | |--[ ]-. SR: Can we stop with the scrub leagues, Dross?  Four up... four out.  I barely knew any of their names.  Not that I know the names of half the guys who are here full-time... hey, why didn't Billy Sexton get a spot in the tournament? TD: Well, actually it just goes to prove how incredibly difficult it is to advance to an IIWF pay-per-view, with only 16 men advancing to Coronation Clash. Even top IIWF superstars will be spending July 12 at home.  SR: Someone who won't be spending the day at home is the "Outlaw" J.W. Hardin.  Did you see the way he eliminated Ego and Curtis?  The guy is incredible... cut up, chiseled -- you want a pick for the tournament, Dross?  You want a bracket buster?  I say J.W. Hardin has returned to to the IIWF to take what is his -- the Championship of the World! TD: It wasn't J.W. Hardin.  It was not him. SR: Hah!  You admit it!  The Outlaw rides again!  Whooooooo! TD: Well, Mota and Macbeth are in the field of 16 -- although at some cost to Derek Mota, who was the victim of a post-match assault by Genesis, with the Highwayman being particularly brutal in his attack on "The Heatseeker."  SR: I guess he found some heat, Dross.  Hey, I hear that you're the reason the fans can't stand... Kajagoogoo. TD: Well, I think that Derek Mota's fans might take issue with that. Our word is that Derek Mota should be able to compete at Coronation Clash, that his injuries are _not_ serious... but we will keep you posted should something change. SR: All right, enough of that.  You and I both know that the story here are the matches coming this Saturday Night.  Billy "Am I still in the promotion?" Shakespeare will meet Joe "Am I still on this planet?" Petrow.  But, besides that, we are gonna see the match of the entire first round... maybe the best match of the whole tournament... Otto Verhoeven is gonna make Chris Quigley wish he were the one leaving town.  It'll be brutal, Dross.  You thought Holyfield had a tough night, wait until the Butcher gets done giving Quigley a "summer makeover."  I can't wait. TD: I don't know if that's an apt comparison, Steve Roberts.  Mr. Tyson is clearly a young man who is going through a difficult emotional period -- but I believe that Otto Verhoeven is in complete control of all his faculties. In fact, word in the locker room is that "The Butcher" might be looking at this match as a way to make a statement... and is looking to make it at Chris Quigley's expense. SR: It's a long time coming, Dross.  You forget about Creed's "Pay-Back" -- the Butcher is about to welcome Chrissie to the "Slaughterhouse" and bring a new meaning to an old phrase, "payback's a bitch... and so is..." TD: [interrupting] Steve Roberts, I don't think we have to go back to that.  The last thing we need is your getting suspended before yet another pay-per-view. SR: Well, you're right there -- ain't nobody gonna pay thirty bucks to hear you and Jackson Browne stumble your way through some twenty matches. TD: It is going to be an enormous card.  In fact, IIWF fans -- we have an exclusive announcement here on "Inside the IIWF" -- on July 12th, live from the Fleet Center in Boston -- Coronation Clash this year will be a FOUR HOUR extravaganza!  A veritable wrestling feast for you great fans!  SR: Hey, Chrissie, pick out a spot on that easy chair... or better yet -- a nice private room in the hospital -- 'cause you ain't gonna be anywhere near the Fleet Center! TD: I don't know about all that -- but I do know that all you great fans should call your cable company today to ensure your place at this summer spectacular: Coronation Clash!    Well, we're going to move directly to Group D now as we go to the lower half of the draw.  And live, direct from the Manhattan Center from which IIWF Saturday Night will eminate this coming week, is Steve Summer.  Hello, Steve! [The shot cuts to a split screen, with Dross on one side and, what sounds like Steve Summer on the other.  His half of the screen being completely black.] SS: Hi, Mr. Dross -- all the lights are out here in the Manhattan Center, I guess nobody told them that I was coming... but Saturday Night this place will be packed with some 6000 screaming fans to see all the great action coming out of Group D!  It's gonna be killer, Mr. Dross! SS: Some of 'em -- heck, yeah!  Ronnie and I hang out a little bit, you know.  I've met Maggie and she's real nice, and I know that they're awful excited about Coronation Clash!  What a huge win for Ronnie Paris -- it's that kind of breakthrough win that Mr. Roberts is always talking about... I think Ronnie Paris is on his way to becoming a champion! TD: Another man who may have "broken through" on Saturday is Luke Steele, who thrilled his hometown fans with a victory over Marty Warnett.  And I will tell you what, folks, I've gotten to know Marty a little bit -- and I know that he is bitterly disappointed about not advancing to the pay-per-view... and about the role that one Simon Lebec played in his elimination. SS: Well, I feel glad for Luke Steele, but now it's time for Genesis, Mr. Dross.  I don't care what you say about them... or how many times Mr. Roberts makes fun of their names. SR: Watch your mouth, kid. SS: Yessir, Mr. Roberts.  Anyhow, Requiem is gonna roll all over Scott Rogers and... and... TD: That's another one of those intra-stable matchups, young Summer. What is going to happen when Highwayman meets Nightwing? SS: Well, I have a bit of a scoop, Mr. Dross.  I was roaming around the locker room during Ronnie match against Lord Byron on Saturday Night and I saw Nightwing sitting in a back corner by himself watching the match. I don't know what's going on with the 'Wing exactly, but you have to think that he wants a rematch with Ronnie in a bad way. I know that Ronnie thinks he can beat Nightwing one on one... and I think it'll just be an awesome match if it comes up! TD: Well, Group D certainly does provide a clear battle between Genesis and... all right Steve Roberts, go ahead. SR: White Flight, baby dolls! TD: Thanks, Steve Summer... see you on Saturday. SS: Bye guys... hey, everyone send get well cards to Icehawk.  Those cheap shot bums in Violence Unlimited really laid him out after Cold Spell proved once and for all who the best team is. TD: Well, I wouldn't necessarily disagree with you about the actions of Violence Unlimited, they should certainly be condemned.  However if Cold Spell wants to prove themselves the best team in the IIWF, they have a Coronation Clash date with either the Prophets or the Harlequins to prove exactly that. SR: I gotta admit, Dross, I sort of liked that Kid Ego -- even if he was from a scrub fed. He and that Curtis guy have a little game, you know what I mean? TD: They certainly do, Steve Roberts.  Kid Ego gave Brody Thunder all he could handle on Saturday Night -- but the "Lone Wolf" proved why he is one of the clear favorites to win this entire tournament by scoring the pinfall.  Safely in the pay-per-view as well is Deathbringer... and his newly-formed "Unholy Alliance" comrade, Serge Annis, will see action in this group on Saturday Night. SR: Goofy match there, Dross.  Who the hell knows what's gonna happen when Annis meets Unique? TD: Another interesting storyline out of Group C -- Dirt Dog Unique Allah and Tony Starks are sure to get a rousing welcome by the fans at the Manhattan Center when they return home this Saturday. SR: Starks is gonna get 'roused all right.  'Roused upside the head by Mr. Damage's telephone.  TD: That remains to be seen, but we do know that Tony Starks has focused a good deal of energy into this tournament -- and when he and Mr. Damage collide in a battle of IIWF mainstays it will certainly be something this Saturday Night! ************************************************************************ -------------------- FIRST LOOK: Wednesday War Room -------------------- ************************************************************************ TD: Well, folks, before we take a look at all the action that's gonna go down on the War Room tomorrow night, here's the leader board of the Coronation Clash Crusade Contest as it stands right now. 1st (tie) Frank Byrns      John de Wolfe  (12 pts) 3rd       Rusty Priske      (10 pts) 4th       many tied (8 pts) But folks, the big tournament to crown a new Heavyweight Champion is not the only story here in the IIWF, there is a lot of tag team action as well, much of which will go down this Saturday Night.  Here is your _First Look_ at all the action! 1. Scott Rogers vs. Scott "the Whine" Bloom [J] 2. "Enigma" Takezo Musashi vs. "Majestic" Maurice McArthur [J] 3. "Sychosys" Joe Petrow vs. El Super Gecko [J] 4. Highwayman vs. Bobby B. Goode [J] 5. Otto "the Butcher" Verhoeven vs. Jumpin' Jack [J] 6. The Machines vs. Licensed for Devastation 7. Pain Inc. vs. Hollywood Bloods TD: Don't forget, folks, that this will be our last War Room action until following the Coronation Clash pay-per-view, that means that tomorrow will be your final chance to catch the great IIWF midweek action all the way until July 23rd! Last week we saw the impressive debut of JP Steele and his tag team, the Nightriders.  This week will bring about a battle between the other two tag teams which are trying to break strongly into the IIWF, Licensed for Devastation and The Machines. SR: Yeah, near as I can figure Licensed for Devastation are supposed to be hard guys.  Mean guys... you know... from the streets, Jack!  Don't mess with Licensed for Devastation, they'll cut you, Jack!  Real hard. TD: Well, they certainly do cut quite an imposing presence... we'll see if they can match up with such teams as the Dark Disciples, Pain Inc., Violence Unlimited and the World Champion Prophets of Rage. SR: And the Machines are just damn weird. TD: Well, they cerainly are a unique collaboration, one that I am very much looking to forward to seeing in the ring. SR: Weird, Dross.  Like putting Emo Phillips with the Duchess of Kent. Weird... weird... weird.  Hey, Dross speaking of the Duchess of Kent, we have a lot of Brit fans, right? TD: The sun never sets on the IIWF Empire, Steve Roberts. SR: Yeah, so my question is, are the Duke and Duchess of Kent the same people as the Duke and Duchess of York?  And are they all named Michael? And what's with the grain documentaries?  And the 4th of July is coming up...don't forget we kicked your ass!  All night long! TD: Okay.  The main event is the tag team contest between Pain Inc. and the Hollywood Bloods with the winners going on to meet the Dark Disciples at Coronation Clash.  With the bad blood between the Disciples and PI, one has to assume that we have not seen the last of the conflicts between those two teams... and it is entirely possible that a team like the Hollywood Bloods, who have done nothing but plug away here in the IIWF, might be caught in the crossfire. SR: You know what team I liked?  The W & W Express.  What the hell ever happened to them?  They were American, right?  TD: [sighing]  Be sure to tune in for all the action this Wednesday Night! ************************************************************************ -------------------- FIRST LOOK: IIWF Saturday Night ------------------- ************************************************************************ TD: And then comes the crown jewel, of course, we will be live from the Manhattan Center this Saturday Night for the final step in our crusade leading up to Coronation Clash. Here is your _First Look_ at all the action! 1. [GROUP A] Casey "Blackheart" James vs. Tiger Claw 2. [GROUP D] Requiem vs. Scott Rogers 3. [GROUP C] Tony Starks vs. Mr. Damage 4. [GROUP A] "Enigma" Takezo Musashi vs. Kevin "Cavalier" Christiansen 5. IIWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Prophets of Rage [c] vs. The Harlequins 6. [GROUP B] Chris Quigley vs. Otto "the Butcher" Verhoeven TD: A wildly exciting card coming your way this Saturday Night, topped off by that huge match between Otto Verhoeven and Chris Quigley.  Also included in that big card, in the midst of all of those tournament matches, sits the rematch between the Harlequins and the Prophets of Rage for the Tag Team Championships of the World.  What action we're gonna see! SR: Well, I don't much like the tag wrestling, Dross... too many guys to keep track of. TD: Four. SR: Yeah, whatever, Dross.  All I know is that there always seem to be a lot of guys, and some of the Prophets speak French, and there are women everywhere so it's a damn mess. TD: Well, the winner of this match will have to defend against Cold Spell, who won maybe the most important match of their IIWF career against Violence Unlimited this week, only to be subject of a brutal, a heinous post-match attack by Jaguar and Mutilator. SR: You know, I was sort of on the fence about those Violence Unlimited guys... but they showed me a level of brutality on Saturday that warms my heart a little bit, Dross.  Gets the old Soundbite a little misty.  You ever got a little misty, Dross?  Misty can do things... TD: Yes, the Prophets and the Harlequins certainly should provide for a very entertaining Championship bout. As will be all of the bouts this week... be sure to tune in live on Saturday Night for all of the action! ************************************************************************ ----------------------- IIWF SINGLES RANKINGS ------------------------ ************************************************************************ as at 28/6/97 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Name F/H Fought W L D Win% Ranking (old) new ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Vacant - - - - - - (WC) WC Lord Byron H 28 22 6 0 79% (IC) IC Dirt Dog Unique Allah N 22 13 7 2 64% (CW) CW ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Highwayman F 15 11 4 0 73% (2) 1 Deathbringer H 37 25 9 3 72% (3) 2 "Enigma" Takezo Musashi F 33 23 10 0 70% (4) 3 Creed N 20 13 5 2 70% (1) 4 Duncan Macbeth N 10 7 3 0 70% (9) 5 Requiem F 12 7 2 3 70% (5) 6 Otto Verhoeven H 37 24 10 3 69% (6) 7 Mad Dog Watkins H 19 12 5 2 69% (7) 8 Brody Thunder H 27 17 8 2 67% (12) 9 Nightwing F 15 10 5 0 67% (8) 10 Ike Sampson F 9 6 3 0 67% (13) 11 Billy Shakespeare F 43 27 14 2 65% (10) 12 Chris Quigley F 33 20 10 3 65% (11) 13 "Sychosys" Joe Petrow N 19 10 6 3 61% (15) 14 Marty Warnett F 44 26 17 1 60% (14) 15 Derek Mota H 15 8 5 2 60% (18) 16 Casey James H 43 23 17 3 57% (16) 17 Mr. Damage H 35 20 15 0 57% (17) 18 Ronnie Paris F 21 12 9 0 57% (19) 19 "Real Deal" Luke Steele F 16 9 7 0 56% (20) 20 Tiger Claw H 52 25 25 2 50% (21) 21 Serge Annis N 18 8 8 2 50% (22) 22 Tony Starks F 9 4 5 0 44% (23) 23 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Kevin Christiansen F 1 1 0 0 100% (24) 24 Scott Rogers F 4 3 1 0 75% (25) 25 Simon Lebec H 4 2 2 0 50% (26) 26 Danny Dynamite H 4 2 2 0 50% (27) 27 ------------------------- suspended / injured -------------------------- Steve "Fury" Kowalski H 21 15 6 0 71% (-) - Subway Psycho F 37 24 10 3 69% (-) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ************************************************************************ ----------------------- IIWF TAG TEAM RANKINGS ----------------------- ************************************************************************ as at 28/6/97 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Name of team F/H Fought W L D Win% Ranking (old) new ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prophets of Rage H 14 11 2 1 82% (WT) WT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Cold Spell F 14 10 4 0 72% (3) 1 The Last Resort F 7 5 2 0 71% (2) 2 Violence Unlimited N 6 4 2 0 67% (1) 3 The Harlequins N 15 9 5 1 63% (4) 4 Dark Disciples H 22 12 8 2 59% (5) 5 Pain Inc.
